Director of Branding and Creative Development - Xlibris, PA 2002 – 2003
Developed new products and services, directed creative development for marketing and an internal branding campaign for the first and one of the largest print-on-demand, self publishing companies.

• Lead the team to develop the systems, standards and processes to develop their print-on-demand color picture books product. Also developed a suite of marketing service products. Developed and defined the marketing strategy to promote the products calling on the company’s position of innovation and leadership within its marketplace. Nine months after the Xlibris Picture Book Service launched, the product sales revenue tripled expectations.
• Worked with team to reposition the company, find significant points of differentiation in its competitive space, develop fresh creative and launch a campaign of direct mail and placement ads - saturating the market with the message of literary success through alternative publishing.

Creative Director – Backe Interactive, PA 2000 – 2002
Responsible for interactive creative development and brand migration strategies for Web site development, interactive advertising and e-newsletter campaigns. Worked with clients to understand their business models and develop strategic plans in support of their business goals. Managed and motivated Art Directors, Producers and Production staff for all interactive development initiatives while maintaining communications with in-house applications developers and client IT representatives. Supported new business initiatives by developing and designing the creative materials for new business efforts and writing and preparing responses to RFP's.

Develop brand migration strategies for our client’s Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer, cross-media marketing communications applications. Help clients prepare development strategies for all Internet related efforts, including Web sites, Intranets and Extranets for employee, client and distribution channel support. Direct content development including overall site architecture, user interface, copy and graphic design. Evaluate and implement emerging technologies for the web, disk-based multimedia, and pre press production for Oki and other global super brands and their respective sub brands.

• Lead 4 person team of software engineers and database developers to establish development protocols and automated production methods used to produce 20 large, corporate web sites in several languages and many browser flavors as well as printed materials using a “develop once, publish many” concept.

Senior Art Director & Computer Design Manager - RT&E, DE 1989 – 1995
Directed a multi-million dollar transition to computer based graphic design from traditional design and production methods. Cut concept and production time by 75%. Captured several multi-million dollar accounts by attracting new high-tech clients from low-tech competition. Developed and implemented server configurations and production and graphical asset management protocols.

• Developed and managed technology implementation plan including hardware and software specifications and training curriculum. Managed staff that grew from 3 at department start-up to 15. Totally replaced manual mechanical art with desktop pre-press within two years –
changing RT&E’s reputation from technology-resistant to leading-edge users.
• Instituted their New-Media Department – offering disk based interactive multimedia
presentations and kiosks. Worked with the DuPont Fibers group to produce the Antron
Web site– the first DuPont business on the web.
